The Sony Xperia Ion

Sony continues its strong urge to get a bigger slice of the Android smartphone in the market with the launch of the Sony Xperia ion HSPA (LT28h) for the global market.

This smartphone, Sony’s flagship product, is centered on a high resolution display at 1080p. However, unlike the LTE 4G variant aimed at AT & T, this version is designed for 3G networks.

Although its release will run on Android 2.3 (Gingerbread), an update to Android 4.0 is scheduled for late 2012. Like its 4G variant, it will still be powered by dual-core processor Krait Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 with a clock speed of 1.5GHz.

The RAM is 16 GB, but can be extended with the inclusion of a microSD card slot. At the rear, there is a 12 megapixel camera with Exmor R sensor for better pictures in low light and a 1.3 megapixel camera on the front. It also features a larger battery of 1900mAh.
