The fight against iPhone OS and Android rooting, which allow you to unlock the terminals, giving the possibility to use applications that are not always strictly legal.
These changes were illegal until July 2010, when Apple had objected to this practice with all its strength, because it conflicts with copyright law. But the U. S. Copyright Office has recognized an exception in the DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act).
In this way both the jailbreak and the rooting were recognized legal, unless they serve an infringement of copyright. Now the problem is that this exemption has an expiration date, more precisely in a month or so. So in a month to violate the DMCA by rooting and jailbreak again will be considered illegal, it also appears not to be expected any other exemption.
Now the EFF (Electronic Frontier Foundation) has opened a petition to convince the authorities that this practice can not be regarded as illegal and called on all owners of iPhone OS and Android systems to put a signature.
The Android development team customized ROM, known as the CyanogenMod, is preparing to open its own Android stores following the idea suggested by a team member.
The developer Koushik Dutta, through its Google page + has published a screenshot of what the panel of the CyanogenMod Store would look like. In the post he states that this store would be a good source to fund future development of the Roma, as it is now active on more than one million Android phones.
It’s time for a change at RIM. After the popularity of the BlackBerry dropped dramatically, RIM has decided to reorganize the upper echelons.
Co-founders and CEOs, Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis, left the command post to the young Thorsten Heins. This move (most likely pushed by investors) will hopefully lead to a complete revolution of the policies of RIM.
Whether Balsillie Lazaridis — who by the way held quite important positions before; town manager and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors with special duties to examine innovation — will manage to turn the ship, remains to be seen.
The year 2011 was undoubtedly the year of the dual-core processors, 2012 will see an overview of quad core, starting probably from Samsung and HTC Edge Galaxy S III. The LG does not want to stand idly by and network are the first photos of any X3, an apparatus with a powerful chipset (an NVIDIA Tegra 3) and a large high resolution display (4.7-inch 1280 × 720). Although it will be so much bodywork as you see from the picture is very thin probably under 9 mm.
Multimedia side complete with front camera 1.3 megapixel and 8 megapixel posteriore.Caratteristiche that elevate it to a top of the range, complete with 16-GB internal disk, external sd more. The new X3 should be presented with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and of course provide full connectivity with Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, 3G/LTE depending on market and a large 2000mAh battery.
Likely to be present at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona at the end of February.
Resident Evil is one of horror’s most famous and sold games of all time of our information age, from now on version 4 is available for Android devices. But it is useless to look at the Android Market, since it is not for everyone, but for now exclusive only for LG. The sore point is not only the temporary exclusivity, but the game requires well-defined requirements.
Apparently Capcom has put the hardware limitation, not on features or graphical calculation as might be expected, but the connection 4G LTE. Rather odd choice given that we are unable to associate problems of execution dates only from the connection. For now the game is distributed only in South Korea, at a price of 5,500 won ($ 5), but it is already provided for distribution in Europe and America.
We look forward to this wonderful fantasy and horror in the absence of LTE connections in Europe, we are sure of a correction of system requirements to start the game.
A picture and specs of a new Android phone from LG has made it online. Codenamed LG X3, the new mobile phone is said to be equipped with a new quad-core processor. Other than trying to be the first to launch a quad-core smartphone, LG is said to pack the Nvidia Tegra 3 tech (promising 1280 x 720 resolutions) inside of a 4.7-inch machinery design.
Although the CES 2012 show officially launched on Monday in Las Vegas, the night before it opened gates to the press, it was discovered that Motorola had already launched two terminals for the European market, China and Latin America. One is a high-end smartphone called Motorola Motoluxe, and has already been spotted on the Chinese market as Motorola XT615 and previously approved by the FCC. This is a smartphone with a 4-inch display, 8 megapixel camera and a special system for email notifications and messages.
Motorola Defy Mini is the second model officially launched. It is resistant to water and dust. One of the most interesting features of the new Defy Mini is that it comes with a Gorilla Glass display. The rest is quite boring, and seems more like an average product: it has a 3 megapixel camera, a 3.2-inch display and a 1,650 mAh battery that provides 10 hours of talk time and powers the device for 21 hours while in standby.
So far there’s not much we can tell you about prices for the Motoluxe or the Defy Mini, what we know is that both will be available in Europe, come February.
Fujitsu, the Japanese giant, now has a terminal that is going to attract any Android user out there. Dubbed the ES IS12F Arrows, the device is said to debut at CES 2012, hitting the shelves soon after. Its characteristics are: certification IPX5/IPX8 that makes it resistant to dust and water, a thickness of only 6.7 mm and a weight of 105 grams. Currently commercial developments have been announced for the rest of the world, but the same Fujitsu says that the phone will not be relegated to the borders of Japan.
Lenovo has decided to show at this year’s CES in Las Vegas a terminal already unveiled in November, the LePhone S2. Since its presentation more than two months ago, we no longer heard about it, but we now have the complete specifications to dissect.
The official name is Lenovo S2 (the LePhone has been deleted). It has a 3.8 inch WVGA display and Android OS 2.3 Gingerbread running on board. The purpose of the phone is to meet the needs of corporate security, providing better data protection through various systems at the kernel level.
The 8-megapixel camera promises high-quality video (720p in this case) and images. The Lenovo S2 is equipped with 1.4GHz processor Qualcomm Snapdragon MSM8255 (too bad it’s a single-core CPU) and will be marketed in two versions: one with 512MB of RAM and 8 GB of internal memory, and the other one with 16GB of internal memory.
At the software level, the new Lenovo S2 has home screen shortcuts to quickly reach your favorite apps and to synchronize files on the cloud, along with the rest of the smartphone offers that are part of Gingerbread.
The Lenovo S2 will be sold immediately in China, but the dates for worldwide deployment are yet to be determined.
Here are the first official pictures of the white version of the famous Galaxy Nexus, which will be marketed in the UK starting sometime next month (rumors have it that as soon as the first week of February), and then from February onwards in Europe as well.
